About UsWindward Telecom has positioned itself as a low-cost wholesale provider of telecommunications services utilizing dedicated high capacity fiber optic cable, providing customers with high volume voice and data services to and from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and adjacent markets in the Eastern Caribbean. Windward Telecom Ltd. on February 16, 2007 received a concession from the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago to provide international telecommunications services to and from the republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Windward markets its services to telephone companies, independent internet service providers, and other companies with high bandwidth requirements with expansion planned to the neighboring islands of Grenada, St. Vincent and Grenadines and Saint Lucia. Using a combination of existing and newly-constructed telecommunications fibres which land in Trinidad, Windward Telecom will eliminate the international bottleneck. Competition results in:
Services were launched in May 2008 to a number of domestic international and domestic carriers, internet service providers and enterprise clients. Ownership Structure Windward Telecom is owned by Network Research Inc., a Canadian-based telecommunications consultancy and by C.A. Bancorp Inc., a publicly-traded Canada merchant bank with assets under management of $322 million. The Board of Directors is chaired by James Meenan, the former President of AT&T Canada who has more than 35 years telecom and technology industry experience. Douglas G. Cunningham serves as Chief Executive Officer and builds upon 34 years telecommunications and media experience, including positions in Canada, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, St. Lucia and Barbados. |
